Video Walls – Casino Arizona at Salt River – Case Study

Casino Arizona is one of some 20-plus casinos operating in Arizona, and it’s one of 22 Indian tribal casinos in the state. The latest numbers available for revenue at Arizona’s 22 tribal casinos show that revenues grew by about $50 million to $1.8 billion in 2012, from almost $1.75 billion in 2011. So it’s big business for those companies looking to partner on particular projects.

Casino Arizona at Salt River draws a daily crowd of gambling fans looking to play over 900 slot machine variations, live black jack, 3-card poker, bingo, keno and other games. Within the casino are some top-quality restaurants and lounges including the Cholla Steakhouse, as well as live entertainment options and a great all-around vibe.

Goals

Casino Arizona at Salt River was looking to add innovative audio-visual solutions to boost its HD A/V system within, and increase its modern look to set it apart from other Phoenix casinos. CCS Presentations Systems designed and installed the AV systems at Casino Arizona’s Talking Stick Resort and then began the upgrades at Salt River. Large format displays were placed in key focus areas, including The Bingo Hall, Guest Services, Willows Bar, Arizona Grill and Pima Bar & Grill.

Video wall displays

More than 140 NEC video wall monitors (55” each) were installed by CCS Presentation Systems’ team in a variety of configurations. The majority are 2×2 systems in Willows Bar, Pima Bar & Grill, and in the Bingo Hall. CCS also installed two 2×8 configurations in the Bingo Hall and an overhead scoreboard flanked by 2x2s hanging from the ceiling.

The casino’s Guest Services area features a 4×5 wall (pictured) back to back to a 4×6 wall inside the Arizona Grill. Both of these are connected to a TVOne Corio Master video processor. This enables multiple windows to be displayed on the walls in several custom layouts created exclusively for Casino Arizona. AMX touch panels were used for control systems in the various areas. The backbone of the system is a Magenta Research system with approximately 100 sources available to the various displays.

NEC’s portfolio of high-quality commercial- and professional-grade digital video wall solutions is ideal for dynamic digital signage and informational video wall applications. NEC’s exclusive TileMatrix™ and TileComp™ technologies, bolstered by LED backlighting, HD resolution and ultra-narrow bezels, are easy to install and offer bright color within the video wall display.

NEC’s ultra-narrow bezel units work well in creating the near-seamless look of a video wall. This is due to its bezel design that minimizes the image gap, with widths as low as 5.5mm. In addition, the displays have inner cooling fans that work to control the heat from the monitors, and shut the display down, if temperatures get too high.
