The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the start of construction of “…the largest video boards of their kind in the world.” No doubt! According to their news release, the massive video screens at EverBank Field will cover approximately 55,000 sq. ft. of video boards. That’s an unbelievable 660% increase over last season’s 7,200 sq. ft. and the most offered by any NFL stadium. The video boards will display to fans all over the stadium any combination of live action, instant replays, graphics, animations, player and team statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements. The video boards are being built by Daktronics, with each massive video wall measuring a stunning 362 sq. ft. (W) x 60 sq. ft. (H). The video display will showcase three side-by-side 16:9 video feeds, and each screen’s active display area will cover nearly 22,000 sq. ft. – that’s about as big as the entire football field! Plans also call for a 44-ft. area for a digital scoreboard.
Jacksonville’s new screens will certainly become the largest AV display in all of sports. It will be far larger than the current large screen LCDs in the NFL, at Houston’s Reliant Stadium and Dallas’s AT&T Stadium. In Texas. Where everything is bigger. Until now.
