Leading manufacturers are creating a new category of ultra short throw projectors. Instead of a long range of light projected across a room, these projectors are well-suited for shortening the distance of the projection, allowing the image to be shown without obstruction, shadows, glare and projector light.
These ultra short throw projectors can be used most effectively in small conference rooms, classrooms, factory floors, trade shows and other space-challenged areas.
Here’s a helpful video on short and ultra short throw projectors
Many leading manufacturers now selling ultra short throw projectors, include Canon, NEC, Epson and others. These types of projectors are excellent at giving highly visual projector presentations. In essence, short throw projectors enable the user to show large visuals and big pictures in small spaces. The exciting thing is that presenter’s don’t have to worry about shadows obstructing the image or light shining in his or her face.
This is because short throw projectors have very short throw ratios, that is, the distance from projector to screen compared to the screen size. For example, a projector with a 1.5:1 throw ratio would have to be 7.5 feet back to project a 60-inch diagonal image. Short throw projectors with a 0.37:1 throw ratio, can project the same large image from just a foot and a half away from the screen.
