CCS California Completes “Classroom of the Future”

 In News

Students at Santa Monica College are experiencing what a “classroom of the future” feels like at the school’s new Digital Learning Studio.  CCS California recently  installed a state-of-the-art audio visual system for SMC that appears to be more like a CNN studio than a typical college classroom.  Students have replaced pens, notebooks and laptops with handheld iPads.  Look around and you’ll see flat panel TVs mounted on the classroom’s three walls with multiple images and high-definition video clips filling the screens.  Students text responses to instructor questions which can be projected to a main room display and discussed immediately.

The classroom was designed to engage students in a fast, mostly visual means that duplicates the way students communicate today.  New tech gadgets are expected to not only deliver content in an interactive way, but to also foster collaborative learning.
